RaRio

Centre for music and art creation

From the ground to the building site: expected completion in 2025

RaRio is a space and a cultural association.

It is located in Italy, in the municipality of Roccabruna (CN), in the south-west of Piedmont, at the entrance to the wonderful Valle Maira, in an area rich in history, flora and fauna.

Built in wood, following ecological criteria, RaRio is a space for creation, musical and artistic residencies, research, sharing and practice of activities related to music, art, dance, awareness, and the search for new ways of experiencing mountain territories.

RaRio has a 51sq.m. Music Room, a 10sq.m. Control Room, rooms and a common living room/kitchen for reception.

The list of available instruments and material will be provided in 2025.

We offer the possibility of residencies and musical, sound, performance and artistic work also over medium to long periods, breaking away from urban work schedules.

We offer the possibility of organising end-of-residency open houses, live streaming, collaborations with other structures.

We favour the creation and emergence of new musical and artistic forms, encouraging encounters between people from different cultures and/or artistic languages.

We favour the emergence of creations that relate to the surrounding sub-mountainous, mountainous and alpine terrain and all its elements, fitting into the path of currents and practices such as Land Art, Acoustic Ecology, Field Recording and many others...

We provide technologies and specific knowledge in the field of composition, recording and sound diffusion.

We foster encounters and exchanges between musical cultures rooted in the territory (Occitan Valleys) and the cultures of the populations that have migrated to the centres of the lower valley in recent decades.

RaRio is a space founded by Daniele Guaschino, with the desire to build a place of creation in the Maira Valley, after 25 years of living and working in France.
