Maira Valley

RaRio is located in Italy, in the municipality of Roccabruna (province of Cuneo), 3km from Dronero, the gateway to the wonderful Maira Valley, which borders the Vallée de l'Ubaye on the French side.
We are in the Alps of south-western Piedmont, 85km from Turin.

The Maira valley has an ancient history, and is today considered a paradise for hikers and lovers of mountains, ecology and villages. It is home to rich flora and fauna preserved from invasive tourist resorts; spectacular rock faces over 3000m, forests, plateaus and magnificent lakes; jewels of medieval, late-Gothic (the parrochhiale d'Elva church frescoed by the Flemish painter Hans Clemer) and Baroque art.
The Maira Valley is steeped in Occitan history and culture, and offers many opportunities to immerse oneself in its many forms of music, language, culinary culture, crafts and lifestyle.

Near RaRio is also the Rocceré Archaeological Area, a splendid mountain site of rock art dating back to the Bronze Age.
